Eurovision Song Contest 1956

The 1st Eurovision Song Contest was held on May 24, 1956 in Lugano, Switzerland. 7 countries took part in the competition - Switzerland, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The UK missed this competition because the BBC broadcaster held the national selection too late. Austria and Denmark did not have time to apply for participation in the competition.
